Jessica Reedy- Moving Forward

After coming runner-up on Sunday Best Season 2 Jessica spent her time after recording her debut album which is titled From The Heart.

Jessica’s rendition of Moving Forward is rich with her jazzy vocals and artistic runs with the full and powerful tone running through it! She kept to her roots of Jazz and Soul infused with Gospel and this song has really illustrated her love for her inspiration; God and Music. Her harmonies are clean and strong showing her artistic ear and how she can make things sound original and her own, taking a known song and putting her own twist.

Anthony Hamilton- Everybody

When you’re talking about contemporary current soul singers Anthony Hamilton has to be in the top 5! His husky, rough, smooth and soulful tone is what makes him stand out and stand strong among his peers.

A very popular single off of his third album Ain’t Nobody Worryin’ (Incredible work if I may add, do listen to it), despite the fact it wasn’t released as an official single off the album. It had incrdible airplay on UK Radios during 2005-6.

His uplifting, joyful and solid voice is amazing to listen to, and his mainstream albums have reflected the talent he projects.

To me this is one of his best songs, the 1st from him I heard on Choice FM years ago! Been a fan since!

Another segment of this blog is to provide you with Spiritual Sunday, showcasing the beauties of Gospel Music.

Fred Hammond and RFC have had an amazing journey with their music and albums. Your Steps Are Ordered is one of my favourite songs off of one of my favourite albums Pages of Life.

As well as the message of strength, persistence and faith pay note to the harmony, musical content and intelligent arrangement. Love this song because of the breaks and changes.

Throwback of the Day

Sounds Of Blackness- Optimistic 

When I was very young around 5 yrs old there was a song that was constantly being played in my home, and being so young I paid no mind to the artist or song but obviously sang and danced along. But as I grew older and the song was still in my memory I tried to find the song but had no information except for the melody deep in my brain. After more than 10 yrs searching I stumbled upon the song on Youtube (We Thank God for Youtube)! 

Once I heard it 10yrs later a tear almost dropped down my cheek at the joy of finally finding it!

This song has such amazing emotion, power and a great message! Loved it when I was young still today! The vocals from the soloist and the choir is powerful and beautiful from the words to the harmonies as well as the visuals from such a classic 90s video! Love it!

Never letting this song out my sight again! :’)

B.Slade- Kick ft Ohene Savant 

Finally B.Slade has published some of his current music on Youtube, and here is just a glimpse of his masterpiece. BSlade is such a genius when it comes to his vocals arrangement and melodies, in this song he brings us cool sophisticated Jazz, which is just 1/8 of what he can do amongst Gospel, R&B, Pop, Soul and so much more.

In this song and in every song he has ever done BSlade paints your ears with his vocal abilities, range, skill and uniqueness. He sang all the parts on this (and every) track from top soprano to low bass. His talent is too much to keep to oneself. 

This song comes from his current LP ‘Brilliant Catastrophe Beta’ which is a masterpiece work from a genius displaying so much of his work! Listen to him and all his work you won’t be let down!

Stacie Orrico- More To Life

When Stacie was in the spotlight with her music she was highly respected because she could sing amazingly well with songs that were heartfelt and emotional! Her music inspired and had a story, different to what people perform today. She didn’t try and mould herself to be like the others in the music industry but kept true to herself so that real people could relate to her!

Here is one of her songs that I’ve loved from day! Because of the pure emotion, inspirational story and vocals illustrated to my ears!

She has had great success with her 2nd album, Stacie Orrico, in America and in Asia but after that album she sort of vanished after her 3rd album! I really do hope she comes back into the industry but try and not be like her peers but do her own thing because her talent is unique and beautiful.

Just loving her music right now!

Youtube Star of the Day

Hasan Green- Cover (cover) Cee-lo Green

Hasan is one of the best singers on Youtube. Period. Then he is the best gospel singer on the website!

His tone is so unique that he automatically makes this song his own. His riffs, runs, range and tone make me love this cover. 

His talent is vast; singer, pianist, music composer… just an all rounder. 

People need to recognise people like Hasan, they may not be on the screen like Rihanna or Chris Brown, but they have more skill and talent than them. Hopefully one day Hasan gets the shine he deserves.

He has so much more videos and diversity that you have to check him out!

This has got to be one of my favourite up tempo Kirk Franklin songs!

Uplifting, enthusiastic, energetic and powerful. Just gotta love it! 

The video is vibrant and colourful just something we need more these days! 

Vocals and harmonies on point, as per usual! Mary Mary giving their strong touch and love on the track, with Kirks ad libs! :D

Kelly Price ft Stokley- Not My Daddy

Kelly Price is one of the ones! If you dont know about her, you don’t know about REAL RNB!!!! She is definitely overly underrated which is why she has to get serious exposure because she deserves it! 

Her voice is a mixture of RnB, Gospel and Soul, so if you love them you’ll adore her because that’s all she gives!

Hopefully her new album gives her the push into the mainstream that she deserves!

This is such an amazing uplifting song that helps motivate anyone at any time of their lives!

One of his best songs to date!

My favourite part is the end repetition of the choir going off!!

Mary Mary- Walking

With the sultry, silk and smooth vocals from Tina and Erica as well as the groovy and funky beat (sampled from Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman”). This song gives you the Christian message as well as the urban twist to make you dance and enjoy. They seem to always attract the younger crowd with their music to allow those who enjoy a good dance song to get ministered to as well. 

The video brings us different creative dimensions with the hand camera as well as the ordinary camera, which shows you different beautiful lights and colours. The video follows the real life of people in the world we live in today and how life can be so difficult on many levels, but how we should walk through it and reach to God for help.

Love it man!! 

Hopefully their upcoming album will follow the trend of this song and other elements because they definitely have the potential, their previous album was an amazing 5/5!!!
