Whitney Houston - The Star Spangled Banner 27/1/1991

Even though this wasn’t an original song by Whitney this has got to be one of the best covers in general, by Whitney and of the song.

The control is essentially the most excellent part of this performance, from the easy start to the powerful, emotive and moving power in the middle to the end. No other singer has been able to do such ever since, in the same way or even in their own. From chest, to upper chest, to the transition into falsetto, Whitney was able to do it all effortlessly! 

The range was incredible and one of a kind in this performance, Whitney was definitely able to fill that stadium (without the micro) because of the power and range she displayed in this!

Somehow she was able to do it so effortlessly smiling, swaying and moving yet the vocals were perfectly on point with no fault. I don’t think your favourite could even dream!

J- Cole- Cant Get Enough- Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

J Cole performed his current lead single Can’t Get Enough on Jimmy Fallen’s show a few days. This single has done reasonably well in the charts recently and maybe this performance will help boost it up and broaden his audience.

You can really feel his energy and passion in this performance with the right backing from The Roots, his flow was on point and swag in the right place.

Last year was a good year for Cole and I think he’s still on point this year and ready to carry on!

Ellie Goulding- Grey Goose Rising Icons

Ellie has recently had a fantastic year in the UK and USA, and has now been recognised as a rising icon. 

In this intimate performance she performs her most popular songs Guns & Horses and Starry Eyed. 

This is such an amazing showcase of her talent; drawn back music with just the acoustic guitar and her voice! Its performances like these that I love the most because you can see the artist zone out into their own world and feel at one with their song. Look at how she pauses and has her own moments but yet still drawns in her audience.

James Morrison, as I’ve said before, as a musical legend within the UK! Happily people recognise his talent and support his music because you can’t sleep on it!

Such a beautiful song originally by Amy Winehouse, James put his own twist with his unique and husky rough voice and did it justice! 

This cover delivers such raw emotion, genuine to the ear and eye. The live band and backing vocals did a really great job supporting James on this song!

James’ voice is so raw, strong, genuine, unique, soulful and skilful that anything he does does well. Remember to buy his new album The Awakening.

Hot Live Session of the Day

Jojo- Live @ The Hard Rock Cafe 

Jojo has been away from the music scene for a hot minute, making all her fans waiting many years for any new material. She has been doing a few live sessions at a few small gigs lately to get her name out there again, which is good to get people waiting for her comeback.

At this particular gig she did many songs from her debut album to her latest singles. She also did covers of her musical icons and influences Aaliyah and Amy Winehouse.

Here she really illustrated her powerful vocals, from her fantastic range to her beautiful tone and skills. Such an intimate session made to look like a phenomenal concert! 

I am very prepared for her new album because I can see so many great influences in it from Rock to R&B and Soul. Her market audience is going to be so great, so many people will be calling for her this time round! (Even though I have been since 2006 ;))

She covers Amy Winehouse- You Know Im No Good @7.53 and Aaliyah Are You That Somebody @12.00 and One In A Million @13.00.

She really showed herself strong in this performance, doing her own songs as well as singing other songs but still portraying her talent first!

She will be big  this time around!
