New Song of the Day
Jessie J - Wild (Acoustic)
I thought Jessie would step out of the limelight completely to prepare a new sound, but less than a few days from her last performance she has released a preview.
Wild is her 1st single from her new album that will be released later on this year! So far it seems like a great sound! Love how she has kept her signature riffs and vibrato on her vocals for her new sound that sounds different to her singles from her debut!
Her control is 10/10 and the harmonies were crisp! Her technique is so on point!
Just a preview of Jessie Js new song that will eventually be released in full very soon I’m sure.
New Video of the Day
Stooshe- Black Heart
New UK female group Stooshe have been working hard this year to make their stamp on the music scene solid and strong. With their diverse look of Pop & R&B with their own good twist on everything they do here is their new video Black Heart.
This video is great because it showcases something very different to what they normally do yet still look amazingly good and natural. They normally mix and match with their attire and colours but they looked beautiful in their dresses and hair done up.
The song itself is something fresh and brand new in today’s music, with great vocals, harmonies and arrangement coming from the girls. If they can bring something good like this off of their previous work it seems like their music will do well!
Hot New Video & Song
Rebecca Ferguson- Too Good To Lose
Following the breakthrough success of her debut single Nothing Real But Love, Rebecca has come with a second single called Too Good To Lose.
This song displays the colourful and powerful vocals she displayed from X Factor and what gave her the recognition she deserved. On the show she was told she was boring but when she came with Show Me Love where she sang with a Dance track but still kept her classic vocals that was where her market appeared.
This song has such an inspirational and motivating track gaining influence from 90s Dance and Soul from songs like Unfinished Symphony but Rebecca made it look original with her look and sound! Hopefully she trains this skill and market that she has and makes it her spot.
Such a good song!
New Sound
Favourite Flava- Stacy
Favourite Flava is a Swedish band coming with a nice blend of R&B, Soul, Electro, Pop. Formed in 2009 they’ve gaining great reviews from their home country Sweden and overseas in the UK as well.
Seems that this year will be the start of good commercial viewing with the release of their singles ‘Waterfall’ and ‘VII’. I love this laid back fusion of different genres on one track, with the lead singers nice range and smooth tones.
When it comes to listening to music what do you think or like listen out for the most??
Be it the live instruments, harmonies, artists vocals or range, synth beats, lyrics, breaks, drops or dynamics.
For me it will have to be the harmonies of the vocals. What makes a song for me are the harmonies that the artists puts in, the more harmonies the better!! The more of a clash the more artistic and dynamic. The more subtle the sweeter, the more original the more love!
Some of the greatest for me will have to be Beyonce, Boyz II Men, Ne-Yo, Mariah Carey, Brandy, BSLADE, Durand ‘Alcoholharmony’ Bernarr, Kirk Franklin! For me they do fantastic harmonies ranging from the bass to sopranos which I adore and just give me life!
If you want I could show you some clips of their amazing artistic thoughts!
What are yours??
New Track of the Day
Kina Grannis- In Your Arms
American singer-songwriter vocalist Kina Grannis’ is a Pop/Acoustic/Indie artist from America and this is her latest single In Your Arms.
This simple yet emotional song really tells a story with her soft and elegant voice making anyone stop to listen, she has a way of singing in a certain way.
She has been very underground for a while but I think she likes to be independent to allow her freedom. But I’m sure her fan base is strong
Live Performance of the Day
Ellie Goulding- Grey Goose Rising Icons
Ellie has recently had a fantastic year in the UK and USA, and has now been recognised as a rising icon.
In this intimate performance she performs her most popular songs Guns & Horses and Starry Eyed.
This is such an amazing showcase of her talent; drawn back music with just the acoustic guitar and her voice! Its performances like these that I love the most because you can see the artist zone out into their own world and feel at one with their song. Look at how she pauses and has her own moments but yet still drawns in her audience.
Watch-Out Wednesday
Spector
Spector are a new 5 piece Indie/Pop band from East London starting out strong in 2011 and planning on continuing in 2012. They pushed forward by gaining recognition by the BBC Sound of 2012 and gaining a spot on the list and hopefully with support and fans they’ll make a movement in this new year.
Their sound is not placed in one box, mixing with Indie, Electronic, Pop and more area. They’ve started touring by themselves as well as supporting acts for Florence & the Machines. With tracks such as Never Fade Away, What You Wanted and Grey Shirt & Tie they’ve started themselves up for good success.
Throwback of the Day
Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You
Charles & Eddie were a soul duo group from the 90s and Would I Lie To You was their first début single and it reached No.1 in the UK in November 1992 and was also No.1 in various other countries, which then became their most popular single.
This song has such emotion and soul within the lyrics, vocals and harmonies really being a very original song and concept with the two male singers. Their voices were so different yet they were able to compliment each other very well in different areas.
Very much a timeless song!
Throwback of the Day
Dodgy- Good Enough
Good Enough by Dodgy, a Britpop Indie Rock band from the UK, was released in Autumn of 1996, the good old days of Britpop. The song reached Number 4 of the UK Charts and is probably the groups most memorable song to date.
I just remember this from my young school days and just enjoying the liveliness of the track with the joy and entertainment, nothing pretensions just a great summer track!

Throwback of the Day
Mr Oizo- Flat Beat
Released in 1999, Flat Beat shot straight to No.1 in the UK with the catchy, continuous and slightly annoying beat.
The basic video featured Flat Eric bopping his head to the beat like we all did then!
Hearing this video many years later made me think what were we listening to then but realising nothing much has changed!
Still like the video!
Hot New Artist & Hot New Track of the Day
Karmin- Crash Your Party
Karmin are a group straight off Youtube, after a few years of performing, millions of views from covers like ‘Look At Me Now’ ‘Super Bass’ and ‘Born This Way’ and worldwide love they have officially released their own single, Crash Your Party.
Their style is very much Pop with a little bit of Dance, R&B and Hip Hop through Amy’s vocals, tone and ability with Nick’s production and beats. Amy have this great ability to rap very well without making it cheesy or tacky as well as make a good Pop song but still original and interesting! They have this great chemistry that will keep them together making even better songs!
Hopefully their Youtube fame will reflect in their record sales and musical success.
X Factor Performance of the Night
Little Mix- Beautiful
Since the remaining acts sang twice I decided to pick two.
This week Little Mix surprised me again with their amazing solos, crystal clear harmonies and emotional performance.
This group will go so far in this competition and in the real world, mainly for their genuine chemistry and beautiful voices. Personally, I think that Perrie Edwards (blonde singer) has the best voice for her runs, range and conviction.
Love this song and performance, one of their bests!
Throwback of the Day
Lily Allen- Smile
Lily Allen’s début single ‘Smile’ was released in March 2006 from her début album ‘Alright, Still’, giving Lily her 1st No.1 single of many in the UK and great European reviews.
This song to me was an amazing song at the time, very original, creative and very British! She had this way of singing that was very London but still a great sound was produced. She had this very indie sound with a twist of pop to give it the play on the radio and to pull in more fans into the genre! It was a great set up for her future career in music helping her get the great reviews she has collected till today.
The video was creative and humorous making Lily look the most evil girlfriend ever! For a first single she showed great potential and knowledge on what she wanted.
Also a massive congratulations to Lily Allen and her husband on their 1st child together! :)
